Why Social Justice and Literacy Go Hand and Hand
At 3Ls: The Academy, the heart of our mission is rooted in the belief that literacy can change lives—and this vision all began with one incredible person, Dr. Sabrina “Bri” Moore. As the founder of 3Ls, Dr. Moore is driven by a passion for breaking the cycle of illiteracy and giving every child the opportunity to thrive no matter their background.
A Journey Fueled by Passion
Dr. Moore’s story is deeply personal. Growing up in a community where quality education wasn’t always accessible, she saw the impact illiteracy had on children, families, and entire neighborhoods. But instead of accepting this as the status quo, Dr. Moore made it her mission to create change.
Her experience ignited a passion to help children—especially those in underserved communities—fnd their voice through literacy. With determination and a heart full of hope, Dr. Moore set out to make sure all children had the chance to break free from the barriers that illiteracy can create. And that’s when 3Ls: The Academy was born.
Building Something Better Than Education
For Dr. Moore, 3Ls is more than just a place to learn—it’s a community-centered space where everyone has a role in uplifting the next generation. She knew that literacy is the foundation of success, but she also understood that it requires the support of families, educators, and entire communities to truly make a diference.
Dr. Moore’s vision for 3Ls wasn’t just about teaching children how to read and write; it was about creating a place where children, families, and teachers work together to break the cycle of illiteracy and empower one another. She believed that when we all come together, we can create lasting change—not just for one student, but for entire neighborhoods.
A Heart for social justice
A Heart for Social Justice At the core of Dr. Moore’s work is a commitment to social justice. She’s deeply passionate about making sure that Black and Brown children have the tools, resources, and encouragement they need to not only succeed academically but to grow as confident, empowered individuals.
Dr. Moore’s belief in literacy as a tool for empowerment is not just academic—it’s personal. She understands the challenges of growing up in a marginalized community, and that understanding drives her to ensure that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive. Her commitment to making literacy accessible to all isn’t just a mission—it’s a movement that has already touched the lives of so many.
